I’m learning to drive with BSM should they be hard on me?

paranea20002001 asked:

I’m with BSM to learn to Drive and I been learning with this instructor and i’m going for my test in 6 weeks but sometimes I get abit scared with the roundabouts and sometimes I like to stop to check to see if its ok to go but he’ll get onto me like if I done a crime in the car and he’ll tell me off and like when I do a sharp left reverse cause sometimes I found that hard and some others manoeuvres if I don’t do that right he’ll like get onto me and sounds like hes fed-up with me and he don’t really put me at my ease, Last week I did one of my Manoeuvres wrong and he told me after how to do it then he said I told you like 20 times is this what all of driving schools like as this is my first one, plus I ask him could I have 1 hours cause i’m going on hoilday and need to save my money he said No I got to have 2 hrs , I pay him £70-00 ever 2 weeks for my lessions and this is how I get treat. should he treat me like that.

No, he should not treat you like that, i also saw your other question about paying if you should crash.
To me it sounds like you need to change instructors, & also i’d contact BSM about the attitude of this one.
They are supposed to encourage you to drive well & with confidence, & it sounds like this ones just upsetting you.

Perhaps he thinks that being hard on you will make you more prepared for your test.

If you hesitate at a roundabout on your test, you will most likely get a minor fault, and might even get a major.

Same for reversing around a corner. It can be a major fault.

He shouldn’t be shouting at you, but maybe he’s just trying to show you that there’s a high standard to pass your test.

I’d try different instructors. That’s what I did- I have free lessons with BSM, the AA and a few other local ones. I tried each one until I found one I liked (and it wasn’t BSM)
