You can buy anything you want at any age, assuming you have cash. At under 18 you can’t enter into any financial obligation (which would include insurance coverage). So yes, you can buy it.

Also yes, the younger you are, the bigger or newer your car is, and a whole bunch of other factors including tickets, will increase your insurance premium.

Since at 17 you’ll need to be added to your parents policy (which also happens to be your least expensive option) talk to them and suggest they ask their agent about what would be best and least expensive for you once you have your full license.

From what I know you can purchase any car you want - as long as you have a full driving license. However, I think the reason why they say you can’t buy a car with an engine bigger than 1000 is because the bigger the engine size the higher the insurance cost.

That’s not to say you can’t afford it - it depends how much you can afford for insurance - if you got a lot of money to splash out on insurance you can go for any car you want with any engine size. But being in the age range of 16-25 company’s tend to charge much more for insurance as that is the age range accidents tend to happen the most.

You should consider how much you got to spend - research the car you want and see how big the engine size is - that should give you a rough idea how much the insurance is going to cost you. The bigger the engine size, the higher the insurance price is going to be.
